Your 12 words can rebuild your wallet on any phone. Whoever has them has your money.

  1. Write them on paper, in order, and check every word twice.
  2. Keep two copies in two safe places at home.
  3. Worried about fire or water? A metal backup plate lasts much longer than paper.
  4. Never take a photo or screenshot, and never save them in notes, the cloud, chat or email.
  5. Never type them into a website or app that asks. Real support never needs them.

Check yourself: (1) Where should the words live? (2) Is a screenshot in a hidden album safe? (3) Who may ask you for them?
