Trading styles — momentum, mean-reversion, breakout

What each built-in trading style does and which markets it suits.

Momentum

Trades with the trend. Enters when an established move strengthens and exits when the move weakens or stops out. Performs best in markets with clear directional drives.

Mean-reversion

Fades extension. When price stretches far from a fair-value reference, the agent positions for a return to the mean and exits when the move completes. Performs best in range-bound markets.

Breakout

Waits at the edges of a range. Enters when price clears a level and exits on a target or stop. Performs best around news, level retests, and volatility expansions.

Which to pick

A trading style is a hypothesis about the current regime, not a permanent choice. Most owners run a backtest in each style against their chosen market and let the verdict guide the decision.

You can change an agent’s style later. Existing positions are not affected — the change applies to new entries.
